My 2017 Goals, Stay Afraid + Do It Anyway

January 4, 2017

Be present.

Try new things.

Take more photos.

Attend several concerts.

Stay on top of the laundry.

Refinish a piece of furniture.

Host a kid-friendly Halloween party.

Continue holiday traditions and create new ones.

Schedule blog and social media posts in advance.

Give things my full attention until they're finished.

See a University of Kentucky basketball game at Rupp Arena.

Host a small but fancy New Year's Eve party with my best friend.

I want to cut way back on social media and just live in the moment. I also really need to keep up with the laundry. It's my least favorite chore, and it shows.

I bought a new camera so I can get away from only taking pictures with my phone. I also plan to print photos for albums. I'm tired of everything being online or floating around in the cloud.

I already have tickets to see Red Hot Chili Peppers, Garth Brooks, Twenty One Pilots, and Tom Petty. I'm hoping to add Bruno Mars to the list. I'll probably call it quits after that. Tickets are expensive these days. There's just so many great acts coming to Memphis in 2017!

I'm not big into DIY projects. I have several pieces of furniture that need to be refinished. I'm going to watch a few YouTube videos and give it a whirl. I'll start small with a nightstand.

A road trip to Kentucky is in order. I've been a UK basketball fan since I was 8. I've never actually seen them play in person. It's an embarrassing fact I'm going to rectify this year.

What are your goals for the new year?

What great goals! I too have problems staying in the moment. I love that you are going to Garth! Totally jealous, have the best time, and take a load of photos with your new camera.

YES to the UK game! You're going to love it, it's so fun. I've never refinished furniture, so I can't help you there, but with laundry it makes it easier if I don't bother separating it (nothing bleeds, it's fine!) and I try to do one load a day, start to finish. If we have enough, of course. Put it in the wash in the morning, move it to the dryer if it's done before I leave for work, if not John moves it along when he gets home, and then I fold it before bed while we're watching something in the bedroom. It's also easier with less clothes - I have such few items, I have to get the laundry done!

My only goal is to transition smoothly to being a family of 5 since #3 just arrived. So far so good but we are only 2 weeks in haha.

I'm right there with you on the laundry. I can wash it no problem, it's the damn folding and putting away. I need a folding robot.
This is a great list! Refinishing furniture is a snap, you'll be hooked as soon as you try it. I want to do a kid friendly Halloween party this year too. I hope you post pics! Love this list, and you've inspired me to update my goals for this year.
