2017 Met Gala Fashion, Best Dressed

May 8, 2017

The Costume Institute Gala, also known as the Met Gala, is regarded as the top social event of the year in New York City. Fashion experts and style magazines consider it to be the world's best red carpet. The fashion is often outlandish, which is why I love it so much. Anything goes.

This year's theme, was Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons. Rei Kawakubo is the first living designer since Yves Saint Laurent to be the sole subject of the fashion exhibit since 1983. Comme des Garçons is famous for its unusual and outlandish silhouettes, which attendees were encouraged to try and emulate.

Some dressed for the theme. Others did not. Here are my favorites.

ALEXANDER SKARSGARD in Ermenegildo Zegna Couture
I mean, he's just so pretty.

STELLA MAXWELL in H&M
This dress, comprised mostly of pearls, is gorgeous.
I love it.

KATE HUDSON in Stella McCartney
I'm really digging this dress on her.
I also love the makeup, platinum blonde hair and white nails.

EMMY ROSSUM in Carolina Herrera
I don't know why I love this so much, but I do.
Her hair, makeup, nails, and jewelry complete the look.

HAILEY BALDWIN in Carolina Herrera
This is not something I would ever wear, but I still love it.
Does she look like a wedding cake? Maybe.
Love the color, the choker and the veil.

BLAKE LIVELY in Versace
Gold
Feathers
Form-fitting
Broad shoulders
Not to mention how gorgeous she is...
♥♥♥

LILY-ROSE DEPP in Chanel
I like the hot pink.
And I especially love the flower details.

CARA DELEVINGNE in Chanel
It's not a wig, y'all.
She spray painted her head.
Ballsy and I like it.
I love the futuristic feel of this look.

HALLE BERRY in Versace
I don't love her hair and makeup.
But she gets props for sticking to the theme.
I love how three-dimensional this is.

DAKOTA JOHNSON in Gucci
If it were any other event, I would probably hate this.
I love black.
And I like that this is different.

JULIANNE MOORE in Comme des Garçons
Julianne wore a dress by the honored designer.
It's funky and fun.
The earrings are great too.
I don't like the shoes though.

RIHANNA in Comme des Garçons
Rihanna also wore a design by the night's honoree.
And she nailed it!
This wouldn't work anywhere else, but for this event...
Perfection.

I remember first hearing of Comme des Garçons in a Gwen Stefani song and looking it up and hating it. And then there was an H&M collab and it looked like circus costumes. Haha! I should look it up again and see if I have a new appreciation.

I think my favorites were Dakota, Blake, and Stella. I love Kate Hudson's hair too, but then realized it wasn't permanent or real or whatever, and got dissapointed.
