A Life Recap, January - July 2017

July 11, 2017

It's been a minute since I've come to this lovely space to update you. So to catch you up, I'm going to share everything I've been up to since January. Yes, January.

I've seen four concerts this year. Tom Petty and Red Hot Chili Peppers were both atop my concert bucket list. Tom put on one hell of a show. He sounded amazing. Of the four concerts, the RHCP were my least favorite. It's not that they were bad. They sounded great and had a lot of energy, but I was a little underwhelmed. And they didn't play Under The Bridge. Boo!

It was my second time to see Garth. He performed for over three hours. He played every song, old and new. I totally teared up when I heard my favorites. (The Dance, Make You Feel My Love) I took my son to see Twenty One Pilots. It was his first concert. It's shocking to admit, but this one was my favorite. Two young kids new to the biz put on one of the best shows I've ever seen. If you're into their music even just a little bit, go see them.

Tom Petty, Red Hot Chili Peppers

Garth Brooks, Twenty One Pilots

I bought a new car. My Nissan Rogue started having major transmission issues. Instead of shelling out money for repairs, I got rid of it. I didn't go with a Nissan this time because my last two crapped out on me long before they should have. I bought a Jeep Cherokee Latitude. I've only had it for about 6 weeks, but I love it so much.

My son graduated from elementary school. He'll be a 6th grader in less than a month and will be turning 12 this fall. Time really needs to slow down.

Speaking of time needing to slow down, I had my twenty year high school reunion. Even though I keep up with a lot of my classmates on Facebook, it'll never be the same as actually hanging out. I had a blast catching up with old friends. And I must say, we all look damn good to be pushing 40!

I turned 38 and got the best birthday card ever. Every time I see this picture of myself, I laugh. I used several filters to try and hide my sunburned forehead. It didn't work.

Last but not least, I watched Kentucky beat UCLA in the Sweet Sixteen. I've gone fishing, played mini golf and celebrated the 4th of July with family and friends. It's been a great 2017 so far. And it should only get better from here.

I'm so happy to see you so happy! You are living life to the fullest!

I saw Garth last year in Portland and planned on seeing him again when he came to Seattle, but I don't think that's ever going to happen. I didn't love RHCP either, but they did at least play Under the Bridge! I am not a fan of any of their music after One Hot Minute and they didn't play a single song from that album. It was a whole bunch of funky jammin' when I saw them. Haha!

My reunion is in August and I'm actually looking forward to it! Was your graduating class really small?

LOVE your new ride! And I feel better with how meh I was about Red Hot Chili Peppers a few years ago. I thought it was a fluke and I think I heard someone say they only played for about an hour or so for your show in Memphis, is that right? That sort of bugs me... Pearl Jam will play for 2+ hours for all shows. You really get your money's worth and your soul is filled to the brim when you're done.

I'm so happy to hear Tom was a great show I need to see him!

I know a lot of rough stuff has happened this year, but it sounds like 2017 is also kind of awesome.

You've had a busy 6 months! I love your cute new Jeep! I just bought a new car as well, and it feels so good to have a slick ride again. But am I the only one cringing with all the dirt that's already been tracked in by my kid? Sigh. I'm sure it's bad with sports and your kids too.

You look damn good, lady! Happy belated birthday! So glad you didn't give up on blogging. Nice to catch up on your life. XO!

I am so sad over the news of Tom's passing. I am so happy you got to have night with him. I wish I could say the same, he was on my bucket list. ox
